J.S. Bach on the Internet

We should not be surprised that JSB's eminence has led to him having a significant presence on the World Wide Web some three centuries after his most productive period. Here is a selection of examples you might enjoy viewing. Let me know of any others you think warrant inclusion in this list or of links here that have been disconnected.

This short list isn't going to try to compete with the extensive list of Bach internet resources catalogued at the 'J.S.Bach Home Page'. I might be able to maintain the fewer links more reliably however and include some others!

Opinions of JSB by other composers comprises an article appearing on the Classic FM site.

How about a potted biography for the pub trivia quiz!

Maybe a more authoritative source is this extract from the Grove Concise Dictionary of Music where you will also find a small picture gallery which includes Bach's personal logo which we have incorporated on our home page.

Or again, here is a more complete biography . This must be where Tim got his Summer Party trivia questions from!

If you are after a particular recording of a work by JSB you would probably track it down quickly here.

And if you need to check the name of that piece by Bach which you can't get out of your head, you could always nip over to this site to listen to the MIDI or MP3 file version!

Why not give our hard working librarian a break and purchase your own copy of the works we are currently rehearsing? You might find this site a convenient source.

G-sharp-blueA Google search on JSB produced 1.8 million hits and I have used some of the early ones in that list to help compile this list. It would not be surprising if some of those which Google found were not a bit more bizarre than the others. Biographies appear to be numerous but perhaps here is one with a slightly different outlook!

G-sharpe-red Good surfing!
